Gabby’s toe point always bothers me, but I’m so happy she’s getting so much exposure. :)
I’m glad I’m not the only one re: her “toe point.”
Like many of the top girls in the US, she is under the impression that “pointing your toes” means just bending the toes and ignoring the rest of the foot. There is really a lot more to it than that, but with that being said, it’s not exactly a difficult thing to learn to do correctly.
^THIS. Gabby, Kyla and Aly are the 3 worst offenders, but for some reason Aly gets most of the criticism when Gabby’s and Kyla’s are just as bad, if not worse. It confuses me.
I’m going to play devil’s advocate here - I’m not sure if this is the case for Aly and Kyla as well, but it looks like Gabby has flat feet or almost flat feet which could be the cause of her toe point problems. I’ve noticed with several gymnasts I used to coach that no matter how much you stretched their feet and ankles, if they didn’t have a good arch they had a less than desirable toe point.
